Black Fatherhood

Welcome to Black Fatherhood, which is one of several online publications that the African American Male Leadership Institute Inc., (AAMLI) will provide to the general public. We hope Black Fatherhood will serve as a valuable resource to promote optimal fatherhood functioning within the African American community. Each issue will present useful and critical information about fatherhood that will:

-Inspire fathers to make an unyielding commitment to their families

-Encourage fathers to become positive, loving and supportive husbands

-Enhance the relationship between fathers and their sons and daughters

-Advocate for more “father friendly” public policies

-Recommend “community” standards that will hold more fathers accountable

-Acknowledge those fathers who are, without media attention or fanfare, doing an exceptional job of providing for and protecting their families each and every day

The primary mission of the AAMLI is to serve as the premier advocacy, training, resource development and information sharing organization for Black men / fathers throughout metropolitan Baltimore. Furthermore, we believe that fatherhood is a very sacred role that should be cherished and taken very, very seriously.

We hope each issue will reaffirm the essence of Black manhood / fatherhood and reconnect men/fathers to their families and communities. Equally important, we hope that those of you reading Black Fatherhood you will become a member of the AAMLI. Your support will be profoundly appreciated and will allow us to forge ahead with our mission. We have much more to say about fatherhood, and Black Fatherhood will promote and affirm exceptional manhood/fatherhood character traits. With your support, we can and we will recapture and restore the essence and strength of Black family and community life.
